       ANTIFREEZE, USED MOTOR OIL, LEAD ACID BATTERIES, RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, and COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS: bring to
Town Garage first Saturday each month 9-11am (except May and Oct. is same day as Scrap Metal Collection. )

•        BAGGED LEAVES, GRASS CLIPPINGS: bring across the street from town garage any time. USE BIO-DEGRADEABLE BAGS PLEASE! NO
MANURE OR ANIMAL CARCASSES! NO PLASTIC BAGS PLEASE! Violators will be fined

       BULKY WASTE (construction waste, furniture, etc.): contact your hauler or recycling coordinator

       CARS WITH TITLES: call National Kidney Foundation at 1-800-488-CARS or Disabled American Veterans in Rocky Hill at 1-860-529-1759.

•        CELL PHONES: Drop into collection bin located at Harwinton Post Office. Deactivate service.

•        CHRISTMAS TREES: bring to town recreation area second weekend of January. Leave in first right hand corner of parking lot, near
basketball hoop.

•        ELECTRONICS (computers,etc.): call Recycling Coordinator.

       EYEGLASSES: Lions Club collection boxes year round at Harwinton Post Office, Thomaston Savings Bank, or Senior Center.

       GREETING CARDS: All cards accepted at monthly paper recycling at Harwinton Consolidated School. (See below for details).

       HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAYS: pre-registration required. At Falls Village in the Spring and at Torrington in the Fall. Detailed
information will be mailed town wide.

       LARGE AMOUNTS PAPER, BOOKS WITH COVERS REMOVED, GREETNG CARDS, AND NON METALLIC WRAPPING PAPER): First Sat. of each
month, 9 AM – 11 AM. ( NO collection in October) at Harwinton Consolidated School, uphill driveway. Look for recycling sign. NO: curbside
accepted paper. NO plastic, tape, stickers, colored construction paper, colored file folders. (These are trash). Home businesses are most
welcomed!

       MERCURY THERMOMETERS: Bring to Household Hazardous Waste Collections.

       PHONE BOOKS: Mid October-mid November only- bin in Harwinton Library parking lot. Remainder of year drop in the permanent bin
located in front of the old telephone co. store on Prospect Street in Torrington.

       PLASTIC PEANUTS / BUBBLE WRAP: Call Packaging Depot at 482-2539.

       PROPANE TANKS: Call Harwinton True Value ( fee charged) or bring to HHW Collection Day in October (no fee). DO NOT DISCARD IN
TRASH!!

       REDEEMABLE BEVERAGE CANS/BOTTLES: save and donate to Bronc Callahan Community Fund. Drop off cleaned and bagged in Thierry’s
garage (Bentley Drive) each April and Oct.

       SCRAP METAL: Every May and Oct. at Town Garage. Detailed information will be mailed town wide at appropriate times.

       TEXTILES: (clean clothing, linens, shoes, toys). Salvation Army (1-800-958-78250, Goodwill(489-8670) or drop into white metal containers
located at Landing Zone on Rt.4, Birge Park Plaza on Rt.4, or corner of Rt. 118 & South Main Street (package store parking lot).

       TREES, STUMPS, BRUSH: Supreme Forest Industries, Bogue Rd. (485-0343 for fee info). Resident drop off M-F 7am-4pm. Also Sat. am. ALL
WOOD MUST BE FREE OF METAL/CHEMICALS.

       Collection cancellations will be broadcast on WZBG, or call 485-9647 for a pre-recorded message

•        New recycling schedules are mailed to all Harwinton residents in December of each year.

       Detailed information about Hazardous Waste Days, Electronic and Scrap Metal Collections will be mailed to all Harwinton residents in a
timely manner.
